Ukulele Portable Piezo Pickup UK-1 Natural, detachable passive piezo pickup solution for ukulele

Encased in lightweight tone wood, UK-1 ensures natural sounding amplification of your ukulele without modification to the instrument. Utilizing the tension of tuned strings, UK-1 installs safely and securely on the tie bar of most ukuleles. UK-1 comes complete with a detachable, easily replaceable cable. When not in use, UK-1 may be left in place with no detriment to the instrument's acoustic sound.

When changing strings or with an existing set loosened, the pickup is placed on the tie block with the input facing downward. Strings loop around the bridge and tie block, holding the UK 1 in place as the strings are tuned to pitch. The supplied detachable mini plug to 1 4" cable can connect the ukulele to an amplifier, soundboard or recording device.

Ukulele players can now quickly and affordably amplify their instruments, without modifying or drilling any holes. The saddle mounted design also avoids the sometimes troubling task of installing a pickup through the uke's sound hole.

Great sound. PIC122   $69.00

K&K Pickup, Twin Spot Classic The Twin Spot is a twin-head piezo transducer system that can amplify a considerable number of instruments: Guitars, Saz, Oud, Bouzouki, Balaleika, Cello, Dulcimer, Bongos, and many more.

The twin-head system has distinctive advantages towards the single-head transducer: The positioning at 2 spots results in a more balanced sound structure. The frequency range is broader. The small heads with only 1/2" diameters allow an unobtrusive installation. In addition, small areas at the instrument can be reached.

The Twin Spot is a good choice for amplifying Jazz guitars. The two pickup disks are wedged at the left and right underneath the bridge. The characteristic sound is transferred with a strong output signal. This installation method, where the bridge is practically "standing" on the pickup, can also be applied with other string instruments that have similar bridges.

Technical Information:
Pickup Head diameter: 1/2"
Pickup Height: 1/32"
Impedance: High ohmic
Length of connection cables 1 ft.

K&K Pickup, Hot Spot This single-head piezo transducer is a small, universal, entry level transducer with a better than entry level sound. It is perfect for smaller instruments and it can be used for hand drums and many other percussion instruments. Whenever small size is an issue, the Hot Spot is a great choice. Its small head is only 1/2" in diameter and 1/32" thick and allows for an unobtrusive installation.

The Hot Spot comes with special double side adhesive film and self adhesive jack mounting clip. Its frequency range is close to perfectly linear and the output signal is very high for a piezo of this small size. Many experimental projects have been done with the Hot Spot, like installing pickups on the fingertips of a glove or using them as "knocking" sensors in car engines. PIC003   $38.00

K&K Pickup, Big Shot The Big Shot is a single-head piezo pickup, especially designed for bigger instruments with low mechanical resonance. The extra strong output signal makes it a versatile choice for a variety of instruments. These include instruments made of relatively thick material, such as the sound board of a piano. It is considerably harder to induce vibration on these thicker materials compared to the thin top of a violin, for example. As the piezo crystals react to corpus vibrations, a low surface vibration results in a low signal and a strong vibration creates a strong signal.

The pickup head is attached with a special double-side adhesive film, which is UV resistant to ensure safe adhesion even after years of use. It is ultra-thin and enables the harmonic frequencies to completely pass through to the pickup disk.

The frequency range is nearly linear with a slight peak in the upper midrange. This allows for great upfront sound transmission.

Technical Information
Pickup head diameter: 3/4"
Height: 1/32"
Impedance: High ohmic
Length of connection cable: 1 ft.
Jack: Quarter inch, connected mono, with nylon shell and Velcro-type attachment

K&K Pickup, Big Twin The Big Twin is a twin-head piezo pickup, especially designed for bigger instruments with low mechanical resonance. The extra strong output signal makes it a versatile choice for a variety of instruments. The two heads allow for positioning at two spots which results in improved balance of the sound and a wider and absolutely flat frequency response. The Big Twin is recommended to transduce piano, grand piano, harp, hammered dulcimer, dulcimer, double bass, cello and even acoustic guitars.

The pickup head is attached with a special double-side adhesive film, which is UV resistant to ensure safe adhesion even after years of use. It is ultra-thin and enables the harmonic frequencies to completely pass through to the pickup disk.

K&K Pickup, Violinissimo The Violinissimo consists of three of pickup heads: The two bigger heads are wedged between the violin's top and each bridge foot. The third smaller head is stuck into one wingslot of the bridge.

The position underneath the bridge's feet produces an extremely voluminous and smooth sound because the bridge applies vertical pressure to the piezo crystals. In this spot, the low frequencies and the sound elements of the violin's corpus are picked up. The pickup in the bridge's wingslot adds to the sound's brilliance. All three transducers together transmit a perfectly balanced violin sound. The exaggeration of the high-end frequencies, which are jeopardized with other violin pickups, is eliminated directly at the sound source when using the Violinissimo.

The jack is attached to the string holder with a velcro-type adhesive system, which is distinctively stronger, more durable, and sturdier than standard Velcro. It can be opened and closed repeatedly without affecting the pickup transmission. The Violinissimo has been designed for musicians who mainly want to amplify their instruments electronically and who wish to achieve an extraordinary natural sound without feedback.

K&K Pickup, Hot Harmonika The Hot Harmonica is a single-head piezo transducer, especially designed to amplify the harmonica.

Although the harmonica could be considered a wind instrument, which normally can't be easily amplified with pickups, the application of the Hot Harmonica renders impressing results. For the harmonica, a piezo transducer is an excellent method of transmission because the harmonica's sound is not exclusively defined by air vibration, but also by a certain amount of vibration of the instrument's corpus. Accurate installation achieves best sound results.

For smaller instruments, we suggest installation on the casing of the harmonica as shown in the picture. With this attachment method finger tapping on the harmonica should be avoided since it will be amplified as well. With bigger instruments, an installation inside of the harmonica, directly on the reed block is advisable. With this installation, finger tapping noise is not a problem. The pickup is attached to the described spot with super glue. PIC010   $46.00

K&K Silver Bullet Microphone For Flute The Silver Bullet is a very powerful condenser microphone with excellent sound and frequency range. Its outstanding performance, especially on wind instruments, makes this small mic an affordable tool for every musician.

Due to its versatile size and its convenient attachment directly to or inside the instrument, it can be used with a wide variety of instruments:

Wind Instruments, such as concert flute, clarinet, trumpet or saxophone. A foam wind screen is provided for all applications on wind instruments.
Hand drums, such as darabokas, dumbaks, djembes, bongos, as well as kalimba or slit drum.
String instruments such as mandolin, banjo, piano, violin, acoustic guitars, and ethnic instruments like sitar, bouzouki, saz, oud, balalaika and similar.
Vocals, for use as a Lavalier microphone. The Silver Bullet has a 4" gooseneck built into the cable right behind the microphone head. This allows a variety of elevated positions on wind instruments. Two different attachment systems are supplied to accommodate different mounting methods: a padded clip and a special extra heavy duty industrial Velcro attachment system which allows for attaching the mic to about any and every instrument (in case the clip does not fit). The mic plugs into the control box, which provides active pre amplification plus active balanced XLR Out.

The Silver Bullet XLR preamp works either on phantom power or a 9-volt battery. The preamp provides the special 5-volt power the mic requires. On customer request, a preamp with 1/4" instrument line output (e.g. for combo amps) is also available. This unit does not work on phantom power. If you would like the 1/4" instrument jack line output version, please specify when ordering.

K&K Pure Guitar Transducer The Pure Mini (formerly called Pure Western Mini) is a passive system for steel string guitar, with three pickup heads and an endpin jack. It is a transducer system only and does not include a battery or on-board electronics. Don't be fooled by the sound of some competitors' "thin sounding" passive systems--the Pure Systems are definitely different. They sound full and rich and have sufficient output to drive most amps and PA systems directly!

Installing the Pure Mini is easy with the supplied installation jig.

We recommend the Pure Mini pickups for all acoustic guitars as a first choice. Direct installation with superglue gel is required for optimum performance but the system is still removable without damaging the guitar (you may damage the pickup though).

This pickup system will fit ANY steel string acoustic guitar! It features super balanced, flat sound transmission, warm woody tone without any quack and superior dynamic range all over the guitar's frequency spectrum. This pickup won the silver medal in the 2006 worldwide readers' poll of Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Our customers tell us that the Pure Mini's output is louder than any other passive pickup on the market. PIC015   $130.00

K&K Banjo Twin Pickup The Banjo Twin pickup system is designed to reproduce the true banjo sound with very natural tone quality and with very little effect on the acoustic tone. The Banjo Twin works well in passive mode, especially if acoustic amps are used. If a preamp should be necessary, we recommend our Pure Preamp.

Installing the Banjo Twin The Banjo Twin does not require any alteration of your valuable instrument; all the components are installed with special double side tape or self adhesive fasteners. These will not harm the finish of your instrument and residues can be removed with WD-40.

The two pickups are installed on the inside of the banjo head using a special removable self-adhesive fastening system, specially designed for the installation on the banjo head. This adhesive is installed to the two outer edges of the pickups only. We call this the "Catamaran" mounting technique. Using this technique, the center portion of the pickup is free-floating, enhancing response while reducing the adhesive surface by about 40% and therefore having only very little effect on the acoustic sound.

The Banjo Twin system is equipped with a multi-use endpin jack. This jack can be mounted three ways: on the outside of the banjo (see photo), or mounted with internal drill through installation, or installed in a slot of the outer rim. For the external-mount, the jack is attached with K&K's self-adhesive dual-lock system (similar to Velcro but much stronger). It can be indefinitely opened and closed without wear and tear and guarantees super holding power with absolutely no mechanical noise. This way, the jack can be temporarily removed to fit your instrument into a form-case.
